let’s pretend today. let us make believe that we are the people that we want to be. that we can put on different clothes and once we pull them over our heads, we will be new people, living in new worlds. is being a different person that easy?
Don’t lie to one another. You’re done with that old life.
It’s like a filthy set of ill-fitting clothes you’ve stripped off and put in the fire.
Now you’re dressed in a new wardrobe. Every item of your new way of life is custom-made by the Creator,
with his label on it. All the old fashions are now obsolete. Words like Jewish and non-Jewish,
religious and irreligious, insider and outsider, uncivilized and uncouth, slave and free, mean nothing.
From now on everyone is defined by Christ, everyone is included in Christ.
let’s tell stories today. let us take the little good that we know and share it with confidence. that we could launch into an encouraging tale that would help instead of hinder, that would build up instead of tear down, that would be thankful instead of complaining. is telling a different story that easy?
So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you:
compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place,
quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you.
And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it.
let’s live out loud today. let us draw attention to ourselves. that loving loud would make a difference in the day of a stranger or of someone we live everyday with that we’ve forgotten kindness towards. that small words and endeavors made on behalf of those who didn’t see it coming could, when they lay their head on their pillow this evening, at the night time that surely will come, they could remember that someone loved them well and have peace. is listening to god so easy?
who teaches you how to live right and well.
I show you what to do, where to go.
If you had listened all along to what I told you,
your life would have flowed full like a river,
blessings rolling in like waves from the sea.
Children and grandchildren are like sand,
your progeny like grains of sand.
There would be no end of them,
no danger of losing touch with me.”
